Effingham April Adventure Event

Sunday 25th April

We are making a return of your favorite Adventure Events again at Effingham with the usual Social Distance measures in place we had last year! Why are we heading back to Effingham in April? See below…

Update Friday 23rd April:
We are all good for Sunday! See you there… It is lambing season, so please keep your distance from sheep with lambs. Dogs should be kept on a lead in sheep fields! There is parking at the Hall as well as at the school around the corner. NO PARKING ON BROWNS LANE please.

Update Wednesday 3rd March:
We are very excited to say that we are returning with our Adventure Events at the end of April. Entries will be opening soon! Some of you may have detected that I have relocated myself further North, don’t worry, Tri-Adventure will continue to deliver its events in the Surrey Hills on a monthly basis.

There is 100% Entry Fee Refund should Covid-19 be the cause of a Cancellation. We are all GO!

Event Date: Sunday 25th April.

HQ Location: Effingham Village Hall, Browns Lane, Effingham Leatherhead, Surrey, KT24 5ND

Registration open from 07:30am for all events. Start window for individuals/pairs from 08:30am to 10am. Please can the Long Course be off earlier. There will be no mass start!

ADJUSTMENTS I HAVE MADE DUE TO CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES:
Expect updates as we approach the event day.
Below are the measure/changes I will be putting in place for this event to protect the health of competitors and the Tri-Adventure staff, and not there to impact on the enjoyment of the event.

  • If you feel unwell on the event day, or have recently tested positive for covid, be sensible and stay away.
  • Toilets will be available and may only be accessed one person at a time.
  • There will be a hand sanitizing station available as well as rubber gloves.
  • The Event HQ will be located out of a gazebo outside in the playing field.
  • I have chosen this venue due to the space it has to offer with the ability to respect social distancing.
  • There will be NO MASS START. Instead, there will be a ‘window of opportunity’ start for individuals/pairs for when they are ready between 08:30am-10:00am. Please don’t leave it too late to start. Please can 4-hour event guys be off by 9am.
  • Any map planning/studying can be done wherever!  On the lovely sunny pitches or away in your car if wet!
  • There is the Transition area. Please leave valuables at home or safely locked away out of sight in your cars.
  • Transition will have no racking and will instead be a large area of the rugby field where you will lay your bikes down. There will be an in and way out so that your bikes and kit can be watched over by my crew during the event.
  • To minimise any risk of contamination, Maps, Event Numbers, pins and Dibbers will be pre-packed and sealed in advance of the event. These will be collected on the day and will be found pegged up on the ‘line’ ready for you to collect once you have been ticked off.
  • My plan is to email everyone their number before so that you are ready prepared.
  • There will be bins outside for any rubbish.
  • Baggage, and Hall access. There will be no use of the hall. Only toilet access, these will be accessed through the hall.
  • We advise our competitors to wear hand covering gloves during the event. ie, not fingerless.
  • The event clock will display time of day, so make a note of the time with seconds to calculate when you need to be back by.
  • Please bring your own supply of water for the duration of the event.
  • There is a small van permanently on site that will provide light catering.
  • The KGV Hall car park has actually been closed off and highly likely to be the same on the day.
  • We will not offer to hold on to your keys.
  • Download desk for your results will be outside and close to the finish flags. You will need to dib the download as soon after you finish and return your dibber to us. There may be a screen available displaying the latest results.
  • Please respect the social distancing rule currently in place for everybody’s enjoyment on the day. There is plenty of room for us all.
  • There will be no prize giving on the day. Instead, prizes will be emailed out once all results have been collected.
  • If there are Entries on the day, payment should be paid by card.

Bike Hire: At the moment we are not offering bike hire for events.

These events are designed to test your navigation and strategy on an off-road adventure. You must stick to the public rights of way and use your 1:25,000 OS waterproof map which we provide, to navigate the trails and hills on foot and bike to collect as many checkpoints as you can within the set time.  New to Adventure Racing?
